Zero Waste California

Earth Day 2009

Earth Day 2008 globe. Californians lead the world when the time comes to "reduce, reuse, and recycle (3Rs)." We live green, work green and buy green, making the 3Rs part of our everyday lives. Now, with innovative recycling and conservation programs across California, "going beyond bottles and cans," we are able to embrace Earth Day as our guiding principle and goal for future generations.

"May there only be peaceful and cheerful Earth Days to come for our beautiful Spaceship Earth as it continues to spin and circle in frigid space with its warm and fragile cargo of animate life."

--United Nations Secretary-General U Thant
March 21, 1971.[1]
