Marin Event
A celebration event at Marin Sanitary Service in San Rafael. The California Integrated Waste Management Board came to the San Francisco Bay Area to announce that the State has exceeded the 50 percent statewide diversion goal, first set in 1989 when Californians routinely landfilled 90 percent of their garbage. Standing in front of state-of-the-art recycling technology at Marin Sanitary Service, the Integrated Waste Management Board lauded the company and the county for recycling over 72 percent of all its waste and being one of the leading jurisdictions in the state when it comes to solid waste diversion.

El Dorado Event
A celebration event at the El Dorado Disposal Service facility in Placerville. The California Integrated Waste Management Board announced that the goal first set forth in the Integrated Waste Management Act of 1989 has been reached, reversing a time when residents and workplaces routinely landfilled 90 percent of their garbage. El Dorado Disposal Service provides the garbage collection, recycling and hauling services for Cameron Park, El Dorado Hills, the City of Placerville and unincorporated parts of the county.

Cal/EPA Sacramento Event
A celebration event at the California Environmental Protection Agency building in Sacramento. After more than a decade of infrastructure and effort, early years of doubt, and a seismic shift in public opinion, California now diverts 52 percent of the 88 million tons of solid municipal wastes it generates yearly. The official 52 percent statewide diversion rate meets a legislatively imposed mandate and places the state at the forefront of national efforts to reduce and recycle our trash.

Miramar Event
A celebration event at the Miramar Landfill Greenery recycling facility in San Diego. The California Integrated Waste Management Board announced that the goal first set forth in the Integrated Waste Management Act of 1989 has been officially reached. The Miramar Landfill Greenery recycling facility makes compost, mulch and wood chips from the approximately 100,000 tons of greenwaste and food waste brought there annually.
